After defeat to London Bees last night after a late winner from Pickett saw the hosts run out 2-1 winners at The Hive, Millwall manager Chris Phillips was still pleased with the performance and can see results coming their way eventually.
Chris stated " The positives are that London Bees are a very good side, they will be up there for sure at the end of the season, we've come here tonight and pushed them all the way and its taken an unbelievable goal to deny us a point in a game we could have had more, so congratulations to London Bees and congratulations to Lauren on the goal to win the game for them."
Lia Cataldo got her first goal in Millwall colours in the defeat and Chris said it's a proud moment for the midfielder. " Lia played well today, she was a bit jaded come the end of the game due to the amount of work she had put in, so that's why I made the swap, but no I'm pleased for Lia to get on the score sheet, she has deserved it."
The team have shown progression over the last few weeks and Chris is approving of the way it is coming along. " Everyone else had an earlier start than us, every team is about 6 or 7 weeks ahead of us in pre season so unfortunately our four first competitive games have been our pre season as such, but I can see the team growing, I can see the team starting to understand my concepts and I can see the ideas I'm drilling into them, starting to come off."
It's Palace next in the league for Millwall as they are back at home on Sunday and Chris says his side will be ready. " We've got 3 days to recover, look at footage, analyse, look at where we can improve and we will then implement that in training and all our pre match meetings."
Georgie Giddings made her return in the starting line up and after an impressive performance it most certainly caught the eye of Chris. "Georgie was great, she is the most senior player in the team so it really is great to have her in the side."
