Ryan Leonard joined Millwall on deadline day after George Saville's move to Middlesbrough, joining initially on loan in a move that will become permanent for an undisclosed club record fee in January.

The former Southend midfielder almost didn't make it across London in time, signing just three minutes before the transfer deadline. The central midfielder has been a long term target of Neil Harris, with the Lions first looking to sign him last summer and then in January, when he joined Sheffield United.

That move didn't work out too well for the ex-Plymouth man, so he will now hope for a more settling period in SE16. Harris played with Leonard at Southend a few years ago, so knows him on various levels and will hope to get the best out of him, with a 'secret weapon' already working well against Leeds on Saturday as Leonard made his debut.

A long throw was flicked on by Jake Cooper for Jed Wallace to score, but the midfielder's all-round game was more impressive in front of a sell-out Den. With lots of energy and an aerial presence, hard work is likely to see Ryan do well in his time with Millwall.
