15... 15.... 15... League games unbeaten...
Who would of thought a year ago the Millwall Lionesses would be in this kind of form it's sensational form and some sensational football being played.
Not often do you see a side full of confidence and ooze as much belief as this current side have.
Probably Millwall's toughest task was yesterday's match, a Durham side that have proved that they fear no one in this league and the league above.
With Doncaster Belles not kicking off till later the Lionesses could go top with a win. It all started great for the Lionesses when Leigh Nicol found space around 30 yards out before smashing the ball into the net after it hitting the crossbar... Honestly watch the highlights, you'll see how good of strike it really was.
Despite Durham being arguably the better side in the first half they were unable to break a resilient back line of Millwall's as Leighanne Robe and her partner Georgie Giddings were like bricks at the back.
Ashlee Hincks then went close when she was put through but the Durham keeper was well placed and able to get low to deny the Millwall skipper from close range and send it wide for a corner.
Half time approached and despite not the best of half's from either side, the Millwall Lionesses took the lead into the break. Both sides came out and started fairly well. A free kick was awarded to Millwall and Ashlee Hincks stepped up to take it, The captain whipped the perfect ball in which allowed Billie Brooks to rifle a header home and double the lead for the Lionesses.
However the cushion was then halved as Durham struck back immediately after a lapse in concentration allowed Beth Hepple to finish and put the gap back down to one and bring the game into life again.
But that gap didn't last long either and the Durham keeper will be having nightmares after Ashlee Hincks free kick looked a simple enough stop but the keeper seemed to have fumbled it, before watching the ball roll into the back of the net. Joy all round for the Lionesses.
Durham would refuse to go down and with 5 left on the clock pulled another back to make the final 5 minutes of the game a rather nervy one however we held on in typical Millwall fashion... it's fair to say I don't have much nail left on my fingers!
