Continental Cup Preview | Watford Ladies v Millwall Lionesses

October 11, 2017

Written by:

Millwall Lionesses have to play Watford for the second time already this season when the sides go head to head at Kings Langley tomorrow night in the continental cup.

The cup could prove to be a chance for some of the players yet to see action so far this season to prove they deserve a spot in the team and give Lee Burch a real headache when it comes to selection.

One player who will be looking to get involved tomorrow night is Grace Taylor. The 18 year old keeper is waiting for her first appearance of the season and knows that should the chance come on Thursday night she must take it to give her a chance of beating number one keeper Sarah Quantrill and giving herself a boost for selection hopes.

The Millwall Lionesses beat Watford Ladies on the opening day of the season 3-1 and that result has seen both teams form so far this season be completely different with the Lionesses collecting 7 points from 9 and siting top of the league while Watford are stuck at the bottom having not collected a single point.

I was able to talk to Grace about tomorrows game and the fight for the number 1 shirt.

Q1) How helpful has Sarah Quantrill been in helping you learn and develop?

Grace: I couldn't be more happier to work along side Sarah! She is unreal and a great role model and someone I look up to, she is always willing to have a laugh and help me improve.

Q2) You travel to Watford Thursday unbeaten in 10 whats been the key to the success?

Grace: I think the team spirit has played a massive part, we have been training hard and everyone has been putting in 100% effort and it is showing in the games.

Q3) When did you notice a real difference in the way the women's game was viewed by the public?

Grace: After the World Cup definitely. I felt like it really made people realise the standard of women's football is higher than what people originally thought it was.

Q4) Should you start in goal Sunday will the bicycle kick you did in the Brighton warm up been seen again?

Grace: HAHA! you never know, it will all depend on the delivery as it was a great ball by Julian!

Q5) Do you have any pre match rituals?

Grace: Nope, I just make sure that I turn up and when I am there make sure that

Here is Grace Taylor's ALMOST perfectly hit bicycle shot!!
