FULL NAME: Wilfred Oluwafemi Onyedinma
SHIRT NUMBER: #10
BEEN AT MILLWALL SINCE: July 1st, 2014
Wilfred 'Fred' Onyedinma is another one of the Lions' academy products currently involved in the first team set up.
Having spent the 2014/15 season on loan at League Two Wycombe Wanderers, Fred returned to The Den and soon became a key part of Neil Harris' side, making forty three appearances as the Lions stormed to the League One Play-Off Final. Whilst Fred had no part in the final, the experience that he gained that season was pivotal to his development.
He is now seen more regularly as a striker in Millwall colours, but the first glimpse of this was not until a fixture in the second half of last season against Phil Brown's Southend, who just missed out on sixth place to us. If the Shrimpers had won that game, they would have likely reached the play-off spots, but Fred's header back across goal proved to be the winner in a tight game where Millwall were missing some key men.
The arrival of Jed Wallace has seen wide chances even more limited for the twenty year old, whilst the importance of Lee Gregory and Steve Morison up front cannot be understated, making it hard for Onyedinma to break into the side in that role.
After the drawn out contract renewal, he signed a three year deal and will be with the club until 2020. In that time, Onyedinma could make a real name for himself, and be at The Den for even longer. Consistent performances at this level for him could even lead the Nigeria management to consider him for an international call up.
