MATCH REPORT: Millwall 2-1 Reading

September 27, 2017

Written by:

So my, my, Millwall's Centre-Mid Guy

A long, long time ago, at The Den on a Tuesday.

Millwall were under an attack.

But I knew at first glance,

That Saville needed half a chance

To maybe help out our four at the back.

But the first 80 didn't inspire.

Reading came and they were dire.

Millwall's passing did stop.

We kept kicking over the top.

It looked like we would lose this game,

When Reading headed and their goal came.

The home support said "that's just lame",

That's when, Saville stepped up.

So my, my Millwall's centre-mid guy,

He was told no good for Wolves but that was just a big lie.

He left Molineux and kissed the Wolves fans goodbye,

Saying,"Millwall will be the place where I fly."

"Millwall will be the place where I fly."

Did you know our little Georgie,

Looks like he hasn't hit puberty?

But he can kick the ball it seems.

Now Reading came promising some flair,

But kept on kicking it, in the air.

And this one looked like it would end all square.

At minute 23 and we were toast,

Until Archer pushed it round the post.

Reading thought they were ahead,

Another shot hit Row Z.

And the ref started to follow suit,

And was playing his whistle like a flute.

We got a corner and all seemed fine,

But the ref, he blew for half time.

My, my Millwall's centre-mid guy,

He was told no good for Wolves but that was just a big lie.

He left Molineux and kissed the Wolves fans goodbye,

Saying, "Millwall will be the place where I fly."

"Millwall will be the place where I fly."

The second half came and we were glad,

Hopefully this half wouldn't be so bad.

But we would have to wait and see.

A noise from the Dockers began to ring,

"You don't know what you're doing",

At the ref who was blowing for everything.

But as Millwall were playing fine,

Mannone decided to waste some time,

They were playing for a draw,

Oh this game was so poor!

And when Reading finally did attack,

Millwall weren't that strong at the back,

A corner came in and we were caught slack,

And they, went 1-0 up.

We were singing,

My, my Millwall's centre-mid guy,

He was told no good for Wolves but that was just a big lie.

He left Molineux and kissed the Wolves fans goodbye,

Saying, "Millwall will be the place where I fly."

"Millwall will be the place where I fly."

We were starting to feel the blues,

The game we didn't deserve to lose.

But this was one that got away.

Then Saville popped up and we did score,

This game was going to end in a draw,

But Chopper said, this isn't how we play...

Then Saville popped up again like a fox,

An 85th minute volley from outside the box.

Reading were hit with a Wham,

Just like their boss, poor Jaap Stam.

And the centre back I admired most,

Moaned in the press conference, looks like he's toast.

A Reading win he could not boast.

Cos we've, got George Saville.

So, my, my Millwall's centre-mid guy,

He was told no good for Wolves but that was just a big lie.

He left Molineux and kissed the Wolves fans goodbye,

Saying,"Millwall will be the place where I fly."

"Millwall will be the place where I fly."

🏆 Man of the Match 🏆

George Saville

Quiet performance from George until two moments of brilliance which were as sweet as American Pie.

💬 Fans after thought 💬

I was unable to interview anyone after today's game, so egotistically, I am this week's fan after thought.

Name:

Michael Avery

Favourite player this season:

Jed Wallace

Favourite all time Millwall player:

Keith Stevens

Greatest Millwall Moment:

FA Cup Semi Final v Sunderland, 2004 at Old Trafford.

What did you think of today’s game:

Like a boxing match, everyone will remember the climax, however thought we were sucked into a possession based game which played to Reading's strengths.  Still happy with 3 points.

What do you think of the season so far:

Coming along nicely and not fearing anyone in this league.  Playing some great football and hopefully this can be the start of a magic time for the club.
