Full Name: Byron Webster
Shirt Number: #17
Been at Millwall since: 1st July 2014
Byron Webster signed for the Lions in the summer of 2014 after he turned down a new contract at Yeovil Town. Webster’s first start for Millwall in a Capital One Cup game, but struggled with form and after being in and out of the side, returned to Yeovil on loan in February 2015.
Webster came back to The Den in the 2015-2016 season, when Neil Harris was in permanent charge, and managed to shake off the shackles and demons that Ian Holloway had clamped on to him and was a vital part of Neil Harris’ side that made their way to Wembley for the play-off final against Barnsley. Unfortunately, Webster was injured in the warm up and missed the final, which Millwall went on to lose 3-1. The next season was one better for Webster who starred in the successful season which ended in promotion back to the Championship, playing 55 games across all competitions.
A hard tackling, steady and efficient defender, Webster plays with a confidence which radiates off of him and is noticeably absorbed by those playing around him. A player who can do the dirty stuff when required, Webster is also very comfortable with the ball at his feet and commanding in the air. Affectionately nicknamed 'Sally' by those in the West Upper, Webster has become a fan favourite who Millwall fans hope will remain in the side for years to come. By ‘those’ in the West Upper, I actually mean just me.
