Ben Thompson is living a fan’s dream. Having been born in Sidcup, Ben grew up as a Millwall fan, going to many games over a number of years. He thought his chance had gone, but was scouted and picked up by Millwall’s academy in one of the last games where he could have been picked up by a league club. Since then, Thompson has gone on to make 86 appearances for his boyhood club, making a midfield spot his own in League One. He has struggled for game time in the Championship with the arrival of Tunnicliffe and Saville, but there is no reason why he couldn’t force his way back into the side.

The heartbreak of losing his brother is still fresh in his mind, and ‘Thommo’ says himself that everything he does is for his brother and in his honour. Ben used to attend games with his father and brother, until he tragically passed away around 2 and a half years ago. Not playing at Wembley was a disappointment, obviously, but it was more about the team winning promotion, which Ben certainly understands. He has that Millwall grit which could certainly make him a club legend one day; the tough tackling midfielder is the sort of player Lions fans love.
