The Deres edge the Erith derby by two goals to nil, in what proved to be a high tempo, and high quality affair in the SCEFL Premier Division

For the 2021/22 season, and going forward, the Millwall Supporters' Club (MSC) are delighted to be partnered with a number of non-league football clubs, and on the warm summer evening on Wednesday 18th August, two of these partners locked horns in league action, as Erith Town hosted Erith & Belvedere at the Erith Stadium in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division.

Set against the backdrop of Erith Leisure Centre and in front of a traditional old school stand with nearly 200 local spectators, the two sides took the pitch to a warm applause from the fans of all ages and there was a real buzz as we awaited the referee's whistle. Erith Town took to the pitch in their red and black striped kit, with their proud ship badge emblazed across their chest, and their local opposition stood there patiently in their blue and white quartered kit, which had taken a radical re-design from previous seasons to match their newly branded club crest.

The whistle sounded and the fans with their young families in their seats cheered as this league fixture was underway. The visitors went into this game with a perfect record of four wins from four in the league and cup, and dominated the early passages of play with some slick runs and passing down the right hand side wing in front of the fans. Town's defence at times struggled to contain the attacking threat, although the goalkeeper was rarely tested in the opening stages of the game. Erith Town, who were missing a number of key players, tried to contain their opponents, but a penalty kick awarded in the second half to The Deres saw them concede the game's opening goal. It was Benga Ogunseye who bravely dispatched the shot from 12 yards, and his effort left the Erith Town goalkeeper with little chance, and the ball nestled nicely into the bottom corner of the home team's net.

Erith & Belvedere continued to be the more dominant of the two sides, and were rewarded with a second goal when a strike from Ollie Bate at close range hit the roof of the net, after some fantastic work on The Dere's left hand side.

Erith Town had a tremendous chance late into the five minutes of time added on, when a dipping and powerful volley from the tightest of angles was wonderfully tipped wide by the visiting goalkeeper. This proved to be the final chance of the game, and it was Erith & Belvedere that took the three points, and top of the table spot, back to Park View Road.

This game between two of our partners was a highly entertaining affair, and one that we would recommend to many people to attend. Remember, that all full MSC members are offered fantastic discounted rates at these clubs, so if there are Millwall games that you can't get to and you want to watch your local clubs, then head down to the likes of Welling United, Erith Town, Erith & Belvedere and Fisher FC!

Make sure you also subscribe to Achtung! Millwall Podcast for regular non-league football updates from our partners too!

The length and width of the hammock should be large enough to fit your body comfortably and securely. Second, you’ll want to make sure the material is made of a durable and comfortable material. Hammocks made of parachute nylon, ripstop nylon, or polyester are great options.
