Finlay Cooper Charity Match

A number of children's charities will benefit after a staggering £7,300 was donated to the Finlay Cooper Charity Fund following Friday's fund-raiser at The Den.

Supporters from both Millwall and Middlesbrough joined forces to help boost the charity's coffers with a match between the two teams followed by an auction and raffle in 'Arry's Bar.

On the pitch, Middlesbrough raced into a 6-0 lead at the break with their considerably younger - and fitter! - squad leaving The Lions with a second-half mountain to climb.

Thankfully it was a different story after the restart as a youthful Millwall team dominated, but only scored once through Tom Sargeant as the game approached the last five minutes.

Boro then went goal crazy and scored three goals in double-quick time.

Thankfully Danny Pickering hit a thunderbolt 30-yarder to reduce the arrears for the home side in the last seconds, but it still ended up 9-2 to the Boro boys, who gained sweet revenge for their 5-0 defeat back in August 2006.

After the match the players and supporters all went to the bar where numerous unique items were auctioned and raffled off.

The Riverside Stadium in 12 months time will be the venue for this excellent event, although there is the possibility of a charity golf day before then.
